The Castle was founded in the early 13th century and it is situated between Tavernelle and Certaldo, the birthplace of Boccaccio, on the way that once led to San Gimignano and Volterra towards west and to Castelfiorentino and Pisa towards east. The owners of the Castle were among the most famous Florentine families until it was recently purchased by the current owners who live on the first floor of the castle and offer 11 residences transformed into small apartments for 2 to 4 guests. The setting is magical immersed in the untouched countryside on a ridge and enjoying endless views.
This is a working farm and it extends over 60 hectares that produces Chianti Wine as well as "Extra Vergine" Olive Oil ("Laudemio") with biological methods. The "Bonollo" distillery in Greve produces a tasty and delicate Grappa from the grapes of the farm.
The nearest village, Marcialla, is at 1,5 km distance. In this village, there are small grocery stores as well as several excellent restaurants. The village of Tavarnelle with a supermarket, a pharmacy, and a bank is 4 km away and Certaldo at 5 km. Florence is about 35 km from the Castle, and Siena 40 km.
The residences are located in 2 buildings orginally part of the farm. Although they are equipped with all modern comfort (independent heating, telephone, Sat-TV), the apartments have maintained the charm of Tuscany’s ancient rural houses. On the ground floor of the rural house, there is a large room ("Sala della Cinta"), in which breakfast is served every morning and lunches and dinners for up to 25 persons can be organised. On request, the guests may taste the specialities of the area and the wines of the farm.In the adjacent barn, which opens on a furnished and very panoramic terrace, there is a covered, heated swimming pool. In summer, this pool is connected to the external pool. In the barn, there is also a hydro-massage shower.

It is also possible to rent the ground floor with its elegant courtyard and marvellous garden for weddings and ceremonies.
